Jay,

re:AMD earning estimates

This year AMD benefits from losses from previous quarters and do not pay taxes. We assume next year estimates include the taxes AMD will have to pay after the previous losses are exhausted.

Jay...re:According to Yahoo, AMD is projected to earn $4.66 in 2000 decreasing to $4.31 in 2001. I realize this is a huge jump for calendar year 2000, but why the decrease next year? Is this supposed to be a short-term bump or another cycle of AMD's ups and downs?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay I wouldn't put to much credence into the ANALysts projections. These same analysts had AMD's earnings estimates between 1 and 2 dollars a share just three to four months ago. They also had price targets (from what I remember) at 36 to 48 for the whole year at that same time, and look where we're at now. Sure AMD is going to have to start paying taxes on earnings, but AMD could sky rocket from here and those could be absorbed in increased earnings. The investing part is up to you though. This thread is as good a place as I've found for information. Go back three or four months on the charts and on this thread and you'll see what I'm talking about.
