I don't entirely disagree, but what is the solution? Build (and fund) more prisons, kill some criminals (and you'd have to kill a lot to make any difference), or cut loose some of the people at the less dangerous end of the spectrum? My preferred solution is to stop jailing people for victimless crimes, like marijuana-related offenses, small-scale possession of other drugs, prostitution, etc. White-collar criminals should serve community-service sentences to atone for their behaviour, rather than clog up jails. What's your preferred solution?
