Sudan, Britain Hold Talks On The Lifting Of Sanctions
Text of report by Sudanese newspaper `Al-Ra'y al-Amm' web site on 10th June

Sudan's ambassador in London, Dr Hasan Abidin, has had talks with former British ambassador to Sudan in charge of Middle East and northern African affairs at the British Foreign Office, Alan Goulty. The talks covered the lifting of the international sanctions against Sudan and the British government's support for Sudan.

Ambassador Hasan Abidin will on Friday [16th June] present his credentials to Queen of England HM Queen Elizabeth II.

It is worth mentioning that Sudanese-British ties have recently been strengthened by the restoration of diplomatic relations.

The external relations minister, Dr Mustafa Uthman Isma'il, is expected to proceed to London on an official visit next month. It will be the first visit by a Sudanese foreign minister for 20 years.
