I received the following e-mail from my local ISP (nais.com) yesterday. They are rolling out DSL service for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised to notice they are selling a WESTELL modem and a Network Interface Card for only $130.00, a $240.00 savings from the regular $370.00 cost.

Anyone living in the Long Island, New York City, and parts of New Jersey area have an alternative to the Bell Atlantic DSL service.

Introducing Speed Series DSL

What is Speed Series DSL?

Speed Series DSL is our brand of ADSL, a low cost, high speed, Internet access technology that allows data to be transmitted over the existing copper phone line in your home or office. Now home users, as well as corporate users, can enjoy reliable dedicated high speed Internet access.

How fast is Speed Series DSL?

DSL can allow for speeds up to 126 times greater than standard modems over phone lines. Web pages fly onto your screen. Multimedia enhanced sites using Flash animation are always smooth, loading in seconds, not minutes. Download video files or MP3 files in a fraction of the time it had taken with a modem. You can even enjoy real-time video conferencing with video conferencing software and a video camera.

How does Speed Series DSL work?

DSL utilizes copper telephone lines that are already in every home and business. DSL works by separating the voice and data traffic. Data traffic is transported to the DSL connection port, and then sent to NAIS via our ATM
service link. In other words, you can talk on your phone and surf the Internet at the same time! Yes, your existing phone works exactly the same as it always has.

What equipment is required at the customer end?

Every customer will need a Splitter, a Network Interface Card (NIC), a DSL modem and an existing phone line. Chances are you already have an existing phone line and a Network Interface Card (aka Ethernet). We can provide a Splitter or DSL modem at an additional cost or you may purchase them
elsewhere. Currently NAIS is running a special promotion. DSL Westell Modem with NIC is now only $130.00, normally $370.00. That is a $240.00 savings!

Is Speed Series DSL available at different rates?

Speed Series DSl is available in three speeds:

640 DS - 640k DSL providing speeds up to 640kbps downstream and 90kbps upstream.
Pro DS - 1.6Mbps downstream and 90kbps upstream
Ultra DSL - 7.1Mbps downstream and 640kbps upstream

What are the advantages of Speed Series DSL?

1. Dedicated Internet Access. You are ALWAYS ONLINE. No need to deal with dialing in, hanging up, busy signals or dropped calls.
2. Speed. Up to 126 times faster than your analog 28.8 modem.
3. Cost Savings. Much less expensive than a point-to-point T1, or Frame
Relay services.

How can I find out about pricing for NAIS Speed Series DSL Service?

Pricing for Speed Series DSL rates starts at only 49.95/mo. Call one of oursales representatives today toll free at 1-877-YES-NAIS ext. 34 and ask about Speed Series DSL pricing plans.

Visit out web site at www.nais.com or e-mail us at dsl@nais.com for a prompt response.

Stand and Deliver, Sargent!: "Auric - bring it on. Would love to buy more in the 13's." $13 it is and I don't see your bid.
