I disagree completely with your remarks about EBAY and coins. I am not saying that its perfect, but I have never had a bad experience. I have bought over 100 coins on Ebay without a problem and I have sold about 60, including gold coins like this:

cgi.ebay.com

and this is what the buyers have said:

cgi2.ebay.com

The closest episode to a problem I had was when I bought a coin for about $100. It never arrived. After two months the seller sent my money back. The day after the refund check arrived, the coin arrived from the post office post marked 3 months earlier!! I bitched to the post master and all he could say was "We're not perfect".

Ron:

Yes, I just saw the article on ebay's problem with shill bidding: msnbc.com

I noticed the pattern last night when one lot of 1-oz gold eagles had been bid up by a large number of bidders to $335.00 per coin. Other eagles offered for sale had fewer bidders and lower prices. Mea culpa.

In the meantime, how 'bout the POG overnight? Pretty chart,eh? And yesterday I ordered two gold eagle, 4-coin proof sets from the US Mint. Gold proof sets you can buy directly from the mint -- bullion coins not.
