Although I can think of shows where Peter is appropriate, resources are always limited, and life is short. Time is mute, and I already mentioned what I thought of applying "majority rules" in areas it does not belong. The curators, scholars, and more experienced segment of the public, such as reviewers, should make the determination of what is important to show, either for influence or quality. Consensus is hard to attain, and reputations may be revisited at any point, if someone has a case to be heard. However, at least the argument is carried on among those who have some idea of what is being discussed.

I agree that the canon is always potentially revisable, and that high school students may need coddling to get them to read much at all. I do not, however, think that one is trying to teach that reading can be fun. Removable of unnecessary obstacles, and the provision of motives to read are good. Pandering is not. At some point, you are trying to teach them that reading is worth their while even when it is not especially fun, that there are deeper satisfactions...........
