/12/00 - CRN Test Center Demos More Than 40 New Products at PC EXPO
NEW YORK, Jun 12, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Solutions for solution providers will be on tap for the third
annual CRN Test Center at PC EXPO, where nearly 40 new products will be tested live. Technology debates and
briefings, as well as the live building of the Ultimate PC, are scheduled throughout the show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June
27-29. PC EXPO (http://www.pcexpo.com) will be held June 27-29, 2000 (conference program begins on June 26), at the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Located in the Crystal Pavilion at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, a staff of 10 CRN Test Center
engineers will deliver in-depth analyses of the products' value for solution providers and customers. Product managers
and company executives also will be on hand to speak about partner programs and product positioning.

"This is the third year in a row the CRN Test Center has embraced this major undertaking at PC EXPO," said Elliot
Markowitz, editor of CRN. "Our massive presence at the show demonstrates CRN's commitment to staying on top of the
market with innovative coverage and analysis of today's and tomorrow's technology."

In addition to live product tests, John Yacono, Test Center director and Ultimate PC guru, will build the Ultimate PC each
day of the at noon. The audience is invited to quiz him on his choice of parts.

This show's monster machine rests on a 1GHz Pentium III, dual Seagate Cheetah drives -- including one 15,000 rpm
drive -- for more than 85 Gbytes of storage and 256 Mbytes of Rambus memory. The flat-panel display includes a TV
tuner and infrared remote. Other special events scheduled for 10 a.m. each day include a June 27 technology briefing on
the Palm platform where the Test Center will examine three competing Palm offerings; a debate of executives of three
major ASP vendors on June 28; and a June 29 briefing on LAN telephony called The Telephone in the Network.

The CRN Test Center kicks off at 9 a.m. June 27 with a demonstration of the new Compaq Photon, a dual 800MHz
Pentium III server as thin as a pizza box. Other major product demonstrations include the Small Business Suite 5.1, an
upgrade of the venerable small-business networking package by Novell Inc. and Computer Associates' ARC Serve 2000.
For gadget hounds, the CRN Test Center will review two 3.345 megapixel cameras from Ricoh Corp. and Olympus
America.

Yacono, along with former CRN Test Center Director Eric Elgar and senior editor Preston P. Forman, will conduct the
interviews of product managers. After each product is reviewed, the Test Center engineer's written review will be posted
on the CRN Test Center section of CRN's Web site (http://www.crn.com). Printed versions of these reviews are
scheduled to appear in the July 3 and July 10 issues of CRN.
