Alcatel Selects RSA Security Technology Across Omni Family of Data Switches
RSA BSAFE SSL-C to Enhance Alcatel's Omni Family to Maximize Interoperability, Minimize Security Threats
BEDFORD, Mass., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS - news) today announced that Alcatel (NYSE: ALA - news) has licensed RSA BSAFE© SSL-C encryption software. Alcatel will rely on this technology to integrate Secure Socket Layer-based encryption technology for securing HTTP and LDAP traffic across its entire Omni family of switches. SSL and its associated encryption algorithms will allow Alcatel customers to perform Web-based remote network management, policy retrieval, diagnostic testing, administration, and network updates via a secure channel for secure access to policy directory and embedded Web servers.

``RSA is the most recognized name in the security industry for encryption technology, making them an ideal security partner,'' said Jeff Hayes, security product manager, Alcatel. ``With RSA Security technology, Alcatel can provide customers with the assurance that communications to Alcatel switch/routers are confidential and authentic.''

``Enterprises are expanding their network resources across, and beyond, their enterprises at a rapid pace, making security an absolute necessity,'' said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing at RSA Security. ``Alcatel understands this trend and is addressing it by adopting industry-leading security technology. We look forward to working with Alcatel as they adopt additional RSA Security technology.''

Alcatel also includes RSA Security's ACE/Agent(TM) software in its OmniPCX 4400 products for secure log-in via RSA SecurID© tokens.

The RSA BSAFE line of security software is embedded in today's most successful Internet applications, including Web browsers, wireless devices, commerce servers, email systems and virtual private network products. Built to provide implementations of standards like SSL, SMIME, WTLS, IPSec and PKCS, RSA BSAFE products can save developers time and risk in their development schedules.
