The cliche of the temperamental artist is based on this, for although an artist does not have to act like a prima donna, he is generally full of scruples and demands that others cannot understand, to succeed in a project or show respect for his field. He has a sense of vocation, and of personal fulfillment within it, and this sets him apart, and makes all work a kind of self- expression. Master craftsmen, such as carpenters and tailors, often feel the same sort of thing. Sounds like some lawyers I know... <g> JLA BTW, an excellent post.
