SAP To Buy $300 Million Stake In Commerce One - Report
(Dow Jones Online News, 06/13/2000 11:41)

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- SAP AG (SAP) is set to buy a stake in U.S. software group Commerce One Inc. (CMRC) for around $300 million, a report in Teleboerse weekly said Tuesday.

In an advance copy of a story to be published Thursday, Teleboerse reported that SAP will officially announce the strategic acquisition at a major SAP users' conference in Las Vegas Wednesday.

An SAP spokesman said he couldn't immediately comment on the report.

The companies also plan to confer on product development and marketing, the report said.

SAP is hoping the stake will boost its Internet portals and electronic marketplace activities, areas in which it's currently weak, Teleboerse reported.
