dawg:

I remember when the gas guzzler cars were real inexpensive after the 72 - 73 oil shock. Nobody wanted to buy them when gas was 80 cents / gallon (and people were used to 30 cents). The rising prices will have a serious impact on Ford, GM, DC and others that derive a significant % of revenues and profits from the gas guzzling SUV's. As an example my brother is purchasing a Lexus RS300 (the luxury outback?) while his last 3 vehicles were the Explorer.

While it was more the lease arrangements and comfort he'll pick up 10MPG. The gas prices with rates will really slow the economy quick.
