I recommend gardening, canoeing, golfing, fishing during market downturns if you are a ggamer.

The rabbit that runs from the shadow of the hawk is usually eaten by the hawk. The rabbit that lies perfectly still is eventually lost and forgotten by the hawk.

DS,

You are so right. I have spent almost 4 weeks out-of-pocket visiting family and getting to know my daughters, and almost ignoring the market. I kept track of the shares of some companies, but had no idea what happened to my holdings or what press releases had been issued. Still don't know about many of them.

Visited the Naz in NY when China Unicom had just made a confusing announcement about CDMA so I saw QCOM down 6%. (Skip the Naz tour if you are in NY.) The noise is deafening.

But the daily rat-tat-tat of FUD and counterstrike is not important to the long-term potential of these gorillae. It typically just doesn't matter what happens in 25 minutes, 25 hours, or 25 days if you invest based on fundamentals. I would rather keep track of the big picture.

Two types of people make pancakes. Some pour the batter and let enough bubbles form to show it is cooked. Others begin edging the flipper around the pancake almost immediately after the batter is poured. The latter frequently eat half-cooked pancakes.
