A big problem with USB and USB-2 is that it uses a very simple controller and a lot more interaction with the CPU to make it work. This means if a compute intensive program hogs the CPU, the USB fails. If the USB is very active it takes a lot of the horsepower from the CPU by generating lots of interrupts.

PS: My experience with W2K (beta) and USB were negative: I tried a digital camera and a reader of the digital camera cards, and neither worked. Again, I don't know who is at fault, but the bottom line is that it doesn't work.

Maybe splitting Microsoft into applications and operating system companies will fix the problem! <ggg>
