Jim,

Earthquakes are very predictable on a statistical basis. Sometime in the next 50 years, both metropolitan LA and SF stand a better than 50-50 chance of having a catastrophic earthquake. This would cause the Naz to dive below 1000. Shouldn't the Fed raise interest rates to 20% in California, to make it unattractive to do business here? This would be a great safeguard for the economy.

While they are at it, they should do the same along the other two coastlines, because of the threat of killer hurricanes.

The Fed is obsessing about inflation, but there are other far more serious threats to the economy they could be obsessing about.

Greenspan should micromanage the business environment in the US to achieve complete nirvana and euphoria for all.
