MSFT has closed above 70 five times since April 26 and has never held up above 70 for more than one day since early May. Seemingly if MSFT can get above 75 or so it should break out of its range. If the economic numbers are benign tomorrow it will have its best chance in some time. The DOJ can't afford to lose to MSFT on appeal, it would cause them serious difficulty in the future with MSFT and other companies. If they lose to MSFT on appeal they can forget ever even writing them a letter, its over for some years.
The DOJ might just be up for a deal with MSFT rather than lose. That would probably be the best outcome anyway. Bill appears to be against any deals, most unfortunate. But maybe he will do a deal at this point as a loss would be a nightmare for him should the company be split up. When both sides could lose a lot maybe thats the time when a deal is made.
