Elsacom's territory under commercial ops according to Lorals May 16 investors brief is even less impressive:

country (date entered cmmrcl srvce per Loral investor brief)

Italy(Jan)
Austria (Jan)
San Marino (Jan)
Switzerland (Jan)
Vatican City (Jan)
Slovakia (Feb)
Germany (Feb)
Lichtenstein (Feb)
Romania (Mar)
Slovenia (Mar)
Bosnia-Herzogovina (Apr)
Croatia (Apr)

In addition to these (which are probably the only ones counted in the 2K sales figure.) Elsacom was supposed to start service in June in Albania, Bulgaria,
Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine.

John, yes, 800 million people if you include all of Europe and the new Independent States, which includes Russia. But I meant the bulk of Europe excluding the old USSR realm. Anyway, Elsacom is BIG! Say we multiply 2000 x 3 to cover the whole damn European continent including Independent States, we get 6,000 handsets. Ouch!

Thanks for that population link.

Maurice

PS: Good point NZL60 - a cunning ploy by BS to ensure we can all buy heaps more in the low single figures. When do you think the SteamRoller will reach 100 mph?
