PFSweb will provide inventory control, order processing, distribution, and returns management to adidas International Trading B.V., a daughter company responsible for adidas' European supply chain. With this agreement, adidas becomes the first global player in the sporting goods industry to use the Internet to sell its products directly to European consumers. The Germany-based company will offer 90 products over the Internet (www.adidas.com/thestore) for sports including boxing, fencing, table tennis, rowing, wrestling and weightlifting. PFSweb will provide services and physical infrastructure to adidas from its European headquarters and distribution center in Liege, Belgium. ``Starting an online store can be incredibly time consuming and cash intensive for many companies because of the mechanics required to create a complete working and functional store,'' said Mark C. Layton, president and CEO of PFSweb. ``Leveraging our economies of scale enables us to provide a cost effective, quick solution to clients.'' ``We are extremely excited to be aligning with adidas. The adidas brand is recognized worldwide and we believe that this will allow them to be a lasting player in e-tailing in the future. Strategically, expanding our European operations is a key success factor for us as we establish market share in a region that is experiencing significant e-commerce growth,'' added Layton.
