Elmer,Pete, this is dumb. Such information is not public. Jozef made the claim that nobody uses it, presented no data to back up his claim, and you think it is my responsibility to prove him wrong? I applaud your valiant effort, but you are making a fool of yourself. Let me repeat: Intel compiler is a joke. It is an application to generate code for the spec benchmark. Nobody in his right mind would use it for serious software development. The market share of Intel compiler is so small, it is not measurable. In market share for PC/Windows environment, it is: Microsoft tools ... huge gap ... Borland (Imprise) and IBM ... huge gap ... bunch of small players including Symantec, Sybase ... huge gap ... Intel compiler team using their own compiler in-house to compile the SPEC benchmarks. Ok, suppose a developer is out of his mind, and decides to use Intel compiler (a stone age development environment considering today's standards). How would he go about buying it? Ok: let's see some online sites for programmers:programmersparadise.com programmerswarehouse.com general purpose online storesnecxdirect.necx.com cdw.com No sign of Intel compiler How about ordering it directly from Intel: 207.173.77.20 The site is dead. I guess nobody noticed, because I am probably the first person who tried to actually order it. By the way, I wrote a compiler myself. Suppose I make an outrageous claim (as you did about Intel compiler) that it is used widely in commercial applications. Can you present the data to the contrary? I think it is up to the person making an outrageous claim to prove the point with data (You), not me. Maybe you can contact the team to provide you with the list of clients. This better be more impressive list than this: developer.intel.com Joe
