Judges can declare a mistrial; appellate review is automatic, unless waived; and there exist watchdog groups to offer pro bono counsel in capital cases. I am not terribly troubled, and if I were, I might respond by contributing to a legal aid group.........

If one is not guaranteed very good counsel perhaps one better not be putting people to death. Because if one does that seems,
well, barbaric.


It's ironic that this is good advice for murderers, both common and especially barbaric ones.
