DownSouth: I'll do some homework and try again.

My question has to do not with any internal system but if XYZ company has facilities in Dallas and Chicago, how does the data flow between those locations - at least to replenish the caches in each - using NTAP.

Or is this question simply stupid and/or irrelevant?

The Cisco / Brocade announcement seems to concentrate on flows across distances (Wide Area Networks or Metropolitan Area Networks).

My question relates to what is the equivalent system NTAP uses to cross distances - the internet?

Perhaps the problem I am having is that NTAP is primarily what used to be called a LAN system (a Local Area Network) while Cisco was originally a WAN (Wide Area Network)system supplier - although Cisco now covers much more - not just WAN's, but MAN's, and LAN's but the internet and intranet through fiber, wire and wireless.

Again, clearly I need to get up to speed on this.

Best.
