There are at least two bidders for Iridium's constellation, Castle Harlan and Venture Partners. Right now as I understand it Castle Harlan is paying Motorola $200,000 a month to operate the constellation. Judge Blackshear has scheduled a hearing on the bids for July 31, but he may have to recuse himself before then because the creditors want to sue Chase Manhattan and Chase's lawyer and Judge Blackshear have some kind of relationship that may create a conflict of interest. Stay tuned.

the IRID satellites already burned in the earth's atmosphere...they didn't want to clutter space with the debris.
