No one believes their numbers anymore. When BLS loses its 'credibility', it will take years if not decades to regain it back.

Let's not put too much blame on BLS bureaucrats. Wall street is the real culprit here. The BLS a few years ago revised its CPI methodology after the Boskin Commission -- a group of Wall Street shills -- did a study claiming the CPI greatly overstated inflation. And the Clinton regime carried out the Boskin suggestions to the letter.
