Dave,

The term I used was "effectively killed". Timna could not afford a slip in the rapidly moving x86 market.

Dave,
If you think about what is going to be on the market in Q1-Q2 next year, Timna is looking very very weak.
Coppermine and Willys speed efftively kill it at least for the desktop. Remember Intel has to sell coppermine really cheap to Microsoft for the X-box which is essentially a PC...probably in the $20-$30 range....even if Intel gets a little more to the regualar OEM market...timna has no chance of out scaling coppermine. So if you can get cheap coppermines that are much faster, who will want the Timna... even being integrated?
Willy scaling very high makes it even harder for Timna.
Timna has too many limiting factors for it to scale.
Intel sure got suckered by the MediaGX and Brian Hallas dream.

Re: may be" is very different from "killed" in your original post...

Once the Rambusectomy is complete and the Rambus controller has been replaced with an SDRAM controller, I expect Timna to do quite well (in very low cost Emachines style PCs).

Timna was dying, but now that the cancer responsible for its illnes is being removed, I expect a 100% recovery!
