I don't remember the details, but he was extremely unnerved for weeks afterward. They were able to get the boat out without any major damage, but he sold it in the fall and bought another. I think he blamed the boat.

Rather unfortunately, it seems that boat ramps often bring out the worst in people. Being a paddler, I can almost entirely avoid them. However, there are 3 or 4 put-ins where I park near boat ramps, so I sometimes become a member of the audience whether I like it or not. I don't really mind the klutzes who take a quarter of an hour to get their boats up onto their trailers.... although I'm sure that everyone else at the ramp has a different opinion... Nope, the ones that I don't like are the occasional boors who stand in their boats shouting at wives, children and dogs to dive into the water with ropes to pull them in and then start screaming if everyone in their personal navy doesn't understand their telepathic commands... Incidentally, you can usually recognize them by their captain's hats... I have seen wives march off down the road heading for home on foot... children in tears...and dogs running off into the bushes once these guys really go into full gear... It really is some sight to see... Kind of makes you wonder what these guys are getting out of a relaxing day on the river, doesn't it? I'm thinking that the best way to deal with these guys is to ask them if they'd like to be test subjects for an experiment having to do with Viking customs... Yeppers, last time I saw a fibreglass boat on fire, it went up real good... especially those foam and vinyl seats...lotsa heat, flames and billowing black smoke.. They make right fine cookers... yessir.... (and that's my daily ration of "rant" for today..)
