You're not lost. CSCO intends to build an interface (card) for its Catalyst (brand name) routers to interface FC to IP then IP to FC on the other end. So the FC packets are traveling as IP packets (wrapped, perhaps) then reassembled when in "FC land".

As far as BRCD becoming the de-facto standard simply because CSCO (the defacto standard) will have the software and interface card to support BRCD FC switches attached to CSCO routers--it could happen.
