How?

The marker makers would want to depress the stock price in order to render the near-money calls worthless. There is far more $$$ exposure there than in the shares, if the open interests are sufficiently large.

BTW, we won't know for sure whether the options traded are BUYS or SELLS until the next day. The pros who monitor the details may be able to guess from the bid/ask and actual transaction prices.

Hope this helps - kind of simplistic.

S-100: TY for the optns. int. Just online for a few mins.**

What also concerns me is the gap:

05/26/00 37,982,700 70 62 3/8 66 1/16
05/30/00 56,648,800 76 5/8 60 76 3/8
05/31/00 54,471,900 72 66 66 3/8

The upward volitility on the favorable China news was good, but occurred too fast. While the negative news today, and especially the brokerage cut, are, IMO, too suspiciously convenient, it appears there will be more of a retracement before a healthier climb.

Unless absolutely necessary, or you're a daytrader, IMO, this is NOT a time to knee-jerk. This IS, IMO, a time to work the stock, if that is your MO.

With hope,
CJ
