"maligned" implies that QCOM's punishment was unjust - I beg to differ - they shouldn't be missing estimates yet

Maybe you didnt read the news item very well - the CFO was saying qcom's earnings (in the future) would be affected if g* went kaput, and even then estimates might be met if other areas of the business made up for it. This was no less true yesterday when the stock was trading at $82. "maligned" is mildly putting it, IMO.
