Never could understand the attraction to the distilled, any more than to sniffing glue ...

Well... try a single malt Scotch called Lagavulin. Other than that, the only thing I drink with alcohol is wine, both red and white, apperitiffs (Spanish sherry), and "After diner wines" (vinho do Porto --port).

Could not find your story but I found this in the site you indicated cbc.ca

OTTAWA - The Supreme Court of Canada heard Robert Latimer's appeal today for a lighter sentence for murder. It's a case that has fuelled debate on mercy killing and the rights of disabled people for the past seven years.

A coalition of advocacy groups for disabled people says if the Supreme Court grants Latimer a lighter sentence, it would be condoning the killing of people with disabilities.

Disabled rights advocacy groups fear outcome of Supreme Court decision

"There cannot be two laws, a law for the able-bodied and a law for people with disabilities," said Pat Danforth of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities. "We believe that the Criminal Code needs to be applied."

I must go as well...
