If you feel the cfo got suckered then I am really worried about the sophistication of Qs management team. They should know better !

Anhand, re: Does anybody know whether analysts have ever included any G* earnings in their projections?

Sure that's why they said it would be lower.

Does anybody know whether analysts have ever included any G* earnings in their projections?

If you are talking about today's announcement from BS meeting, I believe the 10 cents hit to earnings has almost entirely to do with potential writeoff of receivables from G*, if they were to go under, and not to a reduction in earnings from new sales for G*. The latter may be some of the reduction, but I do not believe much. (IMHO)

According to Bernstein Research report the following is their projected revenues for OmniTRACS and Globalstar:
($mil) Omni Globalstar
FY2000 406 320
FY2001 460 186
FY2002 509 135
FY2003 576 117
FY2004 627 101

Out of a total value for QCOM of $110, they believe $2
is attributable to Other (Omni, etc.).

So it appears that Bernstein's analyst would opine that
Globalstar's demise would result in little or no change
to QCOM's overall value as determined.

I don't believe Thornley was suckered since the question was
appropriate and he seems to have addressed it directly. It may be Bear Stearns clients who get suckered in the long run
if they are advised to sell.
