Goutama, Re: EPS Contest and pre-tax this quarter

I agree your suggestion makes good sense (though I have yet to prepare my own entry).

A related matter arose last quarter when the share counts were 20M higher than most people likely anticipated when preparing the EPS number. However, this surge was likely a one-time event (convertible bonds). if the last quarter's EPS estimates were adjusted... then most estimates would have been even farther off the mark since AMD performed so well.

This does raise a question on the EPS for which I couldn't find the answer to on epscontest.com: I would assume this is fully diluted shares?

Goutama:

That shakedown today where 120 were arrested should be cause for concern for those publishing false reports...I'm intrigued by AMD's use of the word "fraudulent" in describing this article, the most recent in a bevy of AMD FUD...Seems to me that culpability is a very real issue on this one, regardless of whether or not "the source" wittingly put forth the FUD!
