Yes, saw/read those reports

How would one close out a long in-the-money put ?

Would/could the miner buy bullion on the open market and force the other party (bank/broker) to take it at the higher put price, but then would the other party dump the bullion back onto the market ?

The other option would be a paper transaction, the miner would be selling the puts to realize the in-the-money gain.

I think buying pyhsical gold would probably make more sense to close out a forward position as opposed to closing put options.

I'm probably overlooking something more obvious !
