Yep, the early adopters of the technology enjoy large margins (if you ignore huge cap-ex and er: R&D), but when everyone finally gets it, competition insures that margins contract until the next "new new thing I agree, although MSFT has done a good job of avoiding that margin erosion. Companies must reinvent themselves more often. By looking at the macro picture and not individual stocks, the entire tech sector will continue to go up indefinitely.
