Jenna: <Price/volatility/volume...breakouts>. Very nice piece of T/A thinking. It reinforces the notion that as "markets" change...our strategies and tactics must also change. The tactics/strategies that "worked" several months ago, quite simply don't work as they once did. Trading philosophy that is inflexible...as markets change...is likely to lead to losses. (Lee)

excellent, price/volume, IMO, is the only way to go...

I've also found that the time frame window works well not only intraday, but over several days, provided the relative volume continues to expand to its previous short range average, long or short (as observer)...however, if trading volume is excessive, ie, xyz average volume 50k, trades 8-10 million, very cautious anything greater than intraday...

I don't think having prive moving into "new ground" is a necessary ingrediant as much as direction of price/volume, though breakout plays into new highs are a lot of fun as well!

reversal patterns...like those a bunch!
