Technology Stocks : Cymer (CYMI) -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

Do customers of cymi's product need to replace the products cymi sells?

The lasers don't have to be replaced (unless the semi plant is being upgraded, in which case they might elect to go with a newer model), but the lasers Cymer sells have to be serviced on a regular basis, since parts of them do wear out with use. Service will be an increasing part of Cymer's revenue in the future, and will be a source of income even when the building of new plants slows. Semiconductor plants are hideously expensive, and downtime is about the worst thing that can happen. To keep its customers up and running (and to make sure they don't go over to the competition) Cymer has gone to great pains and expense to establish service centers in all locales where their products are used.

Any thoughts on cymi's prospects when the building boom for new semiconductor manufactoring plants slow down in two to three years?

When the semi industry catches a cold the equipment industry catches the flu #subject-5416, some even bleed to death.
