Some corrections and questions about Sean Donovan's (or MetaMarkets) Bear Stearns report:

This fall they will be rolling out 300 kbps data rate cell phones in Korea.

They're rolling out 1x in Korea, correct? That's up to 153kbps, not 300kbps.

Sure, the Globalstar write-off would be unfortunate, but is .10/share really worth $6 billion in market value? The Globalstar write off, if it happens, would be a one-time charge, and would have no impact on Qualcomm's business plan or future revenue schedule.

Was Thornley speaking to a one-time write off in regards to the $0.10/share shorfall in 2001? I interpreted it as being due to not selling any products to Globalstar. Not selling products to Globalstar does have an impact on Qualcomm's future revenue schedule. I'm sure, however, that Qualcomm would be able to smooth this shortfall out by eventually penetrating the European market once 3G rolls around.
