To achieve expiring worthless means that stock price must be controlled. How much money market makers have to gain or lose depends on their ability to influence the common. They have essentially no power although people prefer to look at the random price action as though the market maker is manipulating the NAZ price. Fat chance. That's why I put in the computation.

Consider it a little more deeply. There are forces strictly within the options markets on both sides trying to manipulate price with their puny resources. The net is zero. That is, they undo what the others are doing. So the net effect of the options market's contribution is zero.
