Hi Marcos,

I believe the original sentence in the Latimer case had been overturned, then it was appealed (this time around), and it seems that he would have to be in jail for 10 years.

Now, it will go to the supreme court (Canadian)

I will review your post in more detail later, I am in the middle of a trading battle, using options and underlying, (at times, I am naked short call options). Fun, (and so far profitable), but the last two months have been exhausting with this market that does not make up its mind.

Persuasion or Force:
The Problem of Free Speech in Modern Society
Herbert Norman

The twin concepts of freedom and liberty have been the battle cry of oppressed groups since the beginning of recorded history. The nature of the freedom which was demanded has often proved illusory to idealists who expect perfection in this world; it has deceived historians and philosophers who, seeing in later history the frequent betrayals of liberty, have impugned the motives of those early advocates. Many groups suffering from disabilities or oppression, once they themselves have succeeded in gaining political power, have proved as oppressive as the dominant force which was overthrown or compelled to grant concession. This has proved particularly true in the history of the religious wars in Europe in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The course of the history of freedom is never along a direct and straight path. Rather is its course tortuous, leading sometimes into a cul-de-sac from which painful detours have to be made. Nevertheless to assume, because the original intentions of reformers and crusaders were not always sufficient in themselves to present their deals from being betrayed, that therefore all future struggle is vain and illusory would be a cowardly surrender profiting only the enemies of freedom. On the contrary, it is precisely from the lessons of past betrayals or frustrations that later leaders in the cause of freedom have profited, laying surer foundations for their own attempts.

Ah yes... religious wars... he he he he... those priests, the ever peace loving bastards ! ho ho ho ho...

WHAT SHOULD AMERICANS BE CONCERNED ABOUT IN MEXICO?

Not to get hoodwinked again, not to be sold a bill of goods again that the new Mexican president, the new Mexican finance minister, the new Mexican trade minister, and the new Mexican democracy minister are everything they are made out to be and everything you want them to be.

As long as Mexico has the same political system it has had for 70 years it will continue producing the same type of people, the same Mafia, the same groups in power. They now know what you want and they know how to sell to you what they think you want. You have to decide if you want to keep buying it or not.

I agree...

... I also think there is a parallel with the above expectation in re: the Church, if they want to continue to be in the business of power and control, they better change their views, since many people have become smarter. No longer are they willing to eat the current caca they dispense, they need to have a different source of inspiration.

The old guard is as rusted as the Mexican power baboons.

I guess this situation prevails because of the theory of self-inflicted prophecies... i.e. They do not believe in evolution... he he he he he he hee....

__________

"The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost invariably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And if he is not romantic personally, he is apt to spread discontent among those who are."

H.L. Mencken

One could very easily replace the word "government" above, with "religion".

"It is even harder for the average ape to believe that he has descended from man."
