Disu, I fully agree with you. For many years, this duplicity was accepted tacitly, sort of "business as usual". But the conflict of interest presented by these firms holding individual accounts, being trustees for IRAs, etc, and also having also trading desks that take the opposite side, has to be addressed by the SEC someday.
