Is the Kingston card just a NIC? Could you get another NIC?
answ: I am considering another card. Not sure if PacBell will support another setup. They are tough to get help from. <<<flooded!

If your printer port itself didn't go bad, then a fresh install of W98 may fix the problem. answ: Cannot print from DOS, before Windows98 loads. So registers etc in Win98 not the problem.

Can you print the test page from the windows printer setup routine? answ: No, always shows "printing" and printer light goes on, as if receiving command, but paper never advances. I have a spare Epson printer, hooked that up, same indications.

Have you tried seaching in www.deja.com to see if anyone on Usenet has ever had the same problem? answ: No, this is a good lead.

Have you tried Microsoft's knowledgebase on their website? answ: searched, found nothing relevant.

Was the CMOS cleared when the bios was updated? answ: cannot answer this, will check
