It has been quite a surprise for me at the end of each day, having experienced what seemed like a lot of volatility and movement, to find out we really hadn't gone anywhere.

Which really is not a problem. You can make and loose a lot of money without going anywhere. <GG>

I think the lateral movement is the result of the market not wanting to go where it has to.
