I did a little historical rummaging myself and did not find much comfort there either.

Whether it's strategic brilliance or good fortune, I'm not convinced that this company knows how to present itself, it's products, or its finances in the public light. I look at those expensive ads they run in Fortune and I scratch my head. A guy with a motorcycle helmet riding what appears to be a turbofan jet engine, with large graphic quotation marks around dot com or some such thing. Who sold them that "concept" I wonder. Geesh.

They have come far, I respect the achievements to date and I believe that this is a dark cloud obscuring a bright sun; but I'm getting tired of carrying around this damn umbrella. ;-)

With respect to your point Bosco, I agree; unlike in March '97, I feel no urge to triple my position this time.

Bosco,

I would be very interested in your outlook on the company. You say it is very different than 1997, which it is so, but I could not tell if you think it is just a temporary blemish.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Everything I can read, every analyst I can talk with, and Investor relations phone call, point to this being a very very short term issue. Nothing with product or demand, but with time of revenue recognition (shrink wrap to electronic license) and larger enterprise deals. I still think they come out with a good earnings surprise...maybe $.15 or so.

IR said she understands that they have been VERY conservative with the .09-.11 numbers, and that they are very much still trying to close deals in the last 3 weeks.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
