Our hamster died today. Very sad. I thought it was just sleeping, soundly. But no. We are having the funeral tomorrow. I thought (briefly) about buying an imposter hamster- but princess Leia would have been hard to match.

I hope we didn't kill it with fine hamster foods. We did feed it rather a lot. And it was a glutton. It was having a hard time squeezing through the habitrail tubes. It's little feet would wave in the air as it tried to pump itself through the openings.

Poor Molly was really sick this morning and I told her she could hold the hamster at bedtime if she was better. But I didn't think it would be quite as much fun holding a dead hamster.

The kids seem ok with it as long as we have a nice funeral. And there are rumblings about trading up for a dog. (which will be fine as long as the dog fits in the habitrail)
