Jenna: I hear ya. I just did not like the way it began to take out the previous days' lows. Maybe I just had not traded GEMS long enough and still using some logic of over blown blimps and how 'right' it was to stay out of the way when they showed weakness. However that was too tight of a mental stop for SIVB for this sector and market.

Also KEM is sort of a good example have how a market or MM can make things happen to 'not so calm' traders.

Jenna:
During the exchange you shared with me about the SIVB 'whipsaw' trade, you gave me this reassuring thought.
When and if the banking sector and energy sector do more than just a 'pause that refreshes' you will know it.

You know I have thinking that this is the area I could really build some knowledge and confidence in. So I don't really know what my question is. So I will just ask if you would be able to elaborate with a few ideas on how these trends end and how one can pickup 'early clues'.

I guess this is addressing this common traders' fear(concern).
'What if the uptrend begins to end soon after entry'? How much loss will I take before my indicators confirm the new trend direction?
Worst case emotional, immature trend reversal indicators.
A. I have made too much, so it can't go much higher.
B. It can't drop much more.

-Works in reverse also.- How much leverage and profit will I let go before entry when the down trend is confirmed to be an uptrend?

I have begun to use some really tight trend indicators since I am recently trading more actively than I ever had before. In many cases(like SIVB) over trading.
Some early trend indicators I like to use.
1. Opening price signal
2. Net price
3. Trend taking out previous days' highs or lows. A. Intraday, B. daily, C. weekly.
4. 8 period MA's 15 minute, 60 minute, daily, weekly.-
5. Candlestick patterns for continuing and reversal clues.

More could be asked of course, but to keep from confusing the issue further...
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Other's comments welcome also.

PS. This thread and input from it has definitely helped the overall % of good trades and things(accounts) are moving in a positive direction. So this is fine tuning.

PS2. I find TSCN to be an interesting test of trend reversal clues. I feel the fundamental data is improving and that this one is near the end of a long downtrend and soon to start a profitable uptrend. I am applying trend reversal clues to TSCN so that entry will be rewarding and not test my pain level :) for trading decisions.

Have a good weekend all,

Roger
