mighty one what's your take on the "spin off".

I do not like it at all. I see it as a short term solution to bump the stock price. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this division, in fact, it is exploding. It is obviously being managed very well and does not need tinkering. If this is LU's answer to capture some of the short term greed going into stocks like Etek and JDSU then I think it especially sucks. It is almost a move of desperation. In fact, Im sure that shot sent a few key engineers to their PC's to brush up their resume's or contact some VC's. You cant jack with these people, they are a very hot commodity.

Im all for a tracking stock but I hear McGinn doesnt go for that. LU ME is truly a crown jewel.

I think as LU gradually phases out it's older, shrinking product lines and phase into a optical, data networking pure play it will be greatly rewarded. I think they are making all the right moves by farming out the manufacturing of non strategic parts and shedding their consumer units. But this unit is in the top 1% of semiconductor design and it is integral to the growth and development of the new LU. Semiconductors are hot, hot, hot!

what will it mean to lu stock price.

A very short term pop, long term languish.

What's your take TP?
