I went to the u.s open here in Chicago last year, my first one, and I was following Faldo and Couples. As they approached the 17th hole at Medinah, the gallery that awaited them cheered and clapped a little bit longer than usual. I murmured under my breathe, something like, "the crowd is really getting into these guys". The guy next to me said, "not really, we've been waiting here for 20 minutes. Faldo takes forever to golf". I didn't know Faldo was so meticulous. Faldo is one of my sentimental favorites. That day he was teeing off with irons, and Couples always outdrove him. I guess he's kind of a querky fellow. Anyways, its definitely a surprise to see him in the hunt.
