Just posted on the Japanese Nikkei press. Friday, June 16, 2000 Toshiba To Pay License Fee, Royalties To Rambus MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Toshiba Corp. and Rambus Inc. signed a new patent license agreement for SDRAM, Double Data Rate SDRAM, DDR FCRAM memory, and controllers that directly interface with these types of memory. In a press release Thursday, Rambus said the agreement covers patents for fundamental aspects of high-speed memory interfaces that it invented. Toshiba will pay Rambus a license fee and royalties. Toshiba said having the rights to these Rambus patents are necessary to continue providing its customers with their choice of memory and logic products. Rambus designs, develops and licenses high-bandwidth chip-connection technologies that enable semiconductor memory devices to keep pace with faster generations of processors and controllers.
