Well, everyone...we have been looking for some crack in the armor somewhere in the Rambus/DDR story. Now we have it.

Toshiba has clearly stated its firm corporate belief that Rambus has legitimate patents governing the development of DDR technologies which it wishes to explore. Toshiba is now, and will indirectly in all future dealings, support Rambus in its patent litigation against other firms. Toshiba has "cleared the legal decks" for its full scale development of any form of future memory technology...RDRAM, DDRDRAM, SDRAM, you name it. They can now commit their corporate R and D resources without fear of any legal problems. They just bought a giant step forward. Can others be far behind?

Compare this to the Berlin Wall coming down. It could be that big.
