BeautyMerchant.com Begins Investigating Broker-Bribe Allegations

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2000-- BeautyMerchant.com (OTCBB:BUTY) announced today that the company has begun a full investigation of the allegations contained in press releases issued yesterday by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") (In the Matter of Allen Z. Wolfson, et al., Securities Act of 1933 Release No. 7865, June 14, 2000) and the U.S. Attorney's Office (U.S. v. Allen Z. Wolfson, et al.). According to the press releases, Wolfson, and other individuals who are not alleged to have been officers or directors of BeautyMerchant.com, engaged in a scheme to manipulate the price of various stock issues, including securities issued by the company. A grand jury in New York has returned an indictment against Wolfson in connection with the scheme.

According to Ed Roth, BeautyMerchant.com's president, the company was shocked and disappointed to learn of these allegations. "The company had absolutely no involvement in, or knowledge of, the activities alleged in the SEC's release or in the federal indictment. We are very surprised at the nature of the allegations. We have now hired two former federal prosecutors from the SEC and United States Attorney's Office to investigate these allegations, and we intend to pursue all available legal remedies to protect our shareholders and our developing brand name," Roth said.

BeautyMerchant.com offers beauty and personal care products over its website at www.BeautyMerchant.com. When the company launched its website in January 2000, it offered about 2000 beauty and personal care products. It presently offers over 8000 products.
