hb,

I still have not published my charts, it probably wont happen until next week, but here is an interesting observation...

Everyone says there has not been a period of more than (pick a period) 5 years, 10 years or 12 years where you would not come out ahead in the equity market BUT THIS IS NOT COUNTING INFLATION. If you adjust the DJ30 by the PPI, and you bought in 1915 you would be back at zero in 1924, 1931, 1934-1936, 1945, 1954 and 1981!!!! In other words 1915 to 1981 , 66 years and no gain over inflation!!

Since 1981 we have a ten bagger over inflation.

Speaking of CPI/PPI why does the CPI out pace the PPI?

CPI PPI cpi/ppi
1980 86.30 93.80 .92
1990 133.80 118.70 1.12
1999 168.30 128.00 1.31
