Yes and no - depends on how you define "profound". I would say the influence they have is immediate, but on retail traders only. Institutional investors think CNBC and the likes are bags of laughs.

The important thing to remember is that all media's influence is only temporary; in the long haul, only fundamentals drive the stock price.

I think Q, at this juncture, needs solid institutional sponsorship rather small-time daytraders. Yesterday's steep drop might have been partially attributed to the fluffy ownership who came on board following the May 30 fiasco for a quick buck.

It is now clear that those bought Q last November (prior to the crazed run-up) were mostly true believers, like many of us on this thread, and these folks would not sell in the foreseeable future unless the story changes.
